Unlocking healthcare interoperability: Redox + Databricks at Data + AI Summit 2025
Jun 02, 2025

In today’s healthcare landscape, interoperability is no longer a “nice-to-have” — it’s an urgent, foundational requirement. Health systems, payers, and digital health innovators alike are under pressure to make data more accessible, actionable, and bidirectional. From reducing administrative friction to accelerating life-saving interventions, the ability to move data in real time across systems is shaping the future of care delivery.
That’s why we at Redox are excited to co-host a featured session at this year’s Databricks Data + AI Summit, alongside our close collaborators at Databricks. The session, “Healthcare Interoperability: End-to-End Streaming FHIR Pipelines with Databricks & Redox,” will be presented by our Field CTO, Tim Kessler, and Databricks Solutions Architect Matt Giglia on Wed, June 11th @ 5:20 PM - 6:00 PM PDT.
Together, we’ll demonstrate how Redox and Databricks are powering the next wave of healthcare innovation through a direct, scalable integration—one that makes it dramatically easier for organizations to work with clinical data in motion.
From Preauthorization to Patient Insights: Real-World Value in Action
At the center of our work is a simple idea: health data should move as fast as the people who rely on it. In this session, we’ll walk through real-world examples of how organizations are using Redox + Databricks to solve for high-impact use cases:
Preauthorization acceleration: By streaming clinical data directly into Databricks' Lakehouse, payers can automate responses to preauthorization requests—helping providers move from submission to decision in record time.
Sepsis and readmission alerts: Clinical signals like lab results or vitals can be analyzed in near real time to trigger alerts for high-risk patients, giving care teams earlier insight and more time to intervene.
Pushing AI insights into workflows: AI models trained in the Lakehouse can write FHIR messages directly into connected EMRs, ensuring insights actually make it into the hands of clinicians at the point of care.
These are just a few examples of what’s possible when interoperability is baked into your data platform from the start.
Under the Hood: Streaming FHIR, AI Dashboards, and Agentic Workflows
This isn’t just a theoretical demo. Attendees will see exactly how Redox and Databricks are enabling fully streaming ETL pipelines that ingest Redox FHIR bundles directly into Unity Catalog volumes.
The session will showcase how organizations can work with structured healthcare data using Delta’s new VARIANT data type and create streaming tables against Serverless DBSQL Warehouses. From there, it’s easy to power BI dashboards or build intelligent agentic workflows that trigger downstream actions—all without sacrificing compliance or control.
Perhaps most excitingly, we’ll show how accelerators like dbignite and redoxwrite make it seamless to go full circle: ingesting clinical data, transforming it, and posting FHIR messages back into connected EMRs. It’s not just interoperability—it’s interoperability at velocity.
Let’s Connect at Summit
If you're planning to attend the Data + AI Summit in San Francisco or virtually this June, we’d love to connect. Whether you're just beginning to explore healthcare use cases on Databricks or are already scaling AI-driven insights, our team at Redox is here to help you go faster.
We’d be happy to set up a 1:1 conversation during the event to learn more about your priorities and explore where Redox can support your initiatives—whether that’s unblocking data ingestion, accelerating use case deployment, or driving more value from your existing Databricks investment.
Check out the full session details here.
We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s Summit and can’t wait to share what we’ve been building—and to hear what you’re solving for next. Get in touch to connect with us at DAIS 2025.
